Do you have the back to school blues or are dancing around the living room having a party? For us it has always been a mixture of both. Sad to know the boys are around less and we have less time as a family but always a little bit excited at the thought of a bit more me/us time. Although it never quite works out that way does it? Somehow the days just fill up with other stuff.
We are never quite ready for it either. There is always something left to buy last minute, like new schools shoes or a new school coat. Somehow something always gets forgotten. So if you are like me, less than organised when it comes to children and school, then here are some lovely items we have that might just solve your last minute shopping dilemmas.
Have you managed to find a decent winter coat yet? These Togz Warm and Dry Fleece lined kids jackets are perfect for those long walks to and from the school gates. The fleece and insulated mid-loft lining will keep your kiddos nice and toasty and the reflective trim will keep them seen on those cold dark mornings that sadly we all know are headed our way.
With the colder weather comes the rain and when it’s pouring down don’t jump in the car, bung on the waterproof trousers and splash your way to school. These basic children’s waterproofs are really reasonably priced and will make sure your kids arrive nice and dry even after lots of puddle splashing. Alternatively try a Target Dry Kids Rainsuit. These all in ones are really easy to get in and out of and can be easily packed into a school bag for rainy play times.
What last minute items do you normally find yourself in need of? Does the thought of heading to the shops in preparation for a school send you into a spin? We love Father’s Day. It is a day we get to celebrate one of our favourite boys, because let’s face it, they never really grow up. We wouldn’t have it any other way either. We also don’t think that Dad is really looking for a fancy watch or some designer aftershave, all the Dads we know just want to spend some quality time with their loved ones. They want to enjoy the day without any stress or mundane tasks like mowing the lawn or washing up getting in the way. That doesn’t mean we don’t want to spoil them though. So to help you out we have come up with some Father’s Day ideas especially for your Outdoor Dad.
Are you crafty? Are your kids keen to learn how to use a sewing machine. This great DIY hammock from Design Sponge would be a lovely handmade project for that special Daddy. It will definitely take a bit more planning unless you are a real whizz with sewing. Crafting not for you? Then why not buy one, you can pick them up for as little as £30. Once you have your lovely hammock set it up before Dad wakes up, make him a nice cup of tea, give him is favourite book and send him out for a few hours of relaxation while you all prepare the day. Sounds a little bit like heaven to us!
Is your Dad a keen birdwatcher? Does he like to make lists or take sketches of the birds he sees. Why not buy a nice little exercise book and decorate it with pictures of his favourite birds. Get the kids to draw some or cut out some pictures from a few magazines. He won’t be able to wait to get out and start filling it up. It might even inspire your kids to join in.
How about something a bit quirky. Have you ever been bat hunting? If your Dad loves wildlife then he would love a bat detector. They work to convert bat echolocation calls into a frequency that our ears can make out allowing us to hear the amazing sounds they make. If you are lucky you will even get to hear their feeding buzz as they catch an insect and gobble it up. You can pick them up from about £60 but they are well worth it and will provide hours of entertainment during the summer. Watch out though, once he has the bug he will soon become a night owl, constantly out on the prowl for unsuspecting bats to feast his ears on. It’s not all bad though, you will all get a chance to join in and discover a whole new world.
Does your Dad always get caught out in the rain? Our Mac in a Sac Packaway Jacket in Fern Green or Bottle retails at £24.99 and is perfect for stowing away in his rucksack or simply having handy in the boot of the car. This nifty little jacket is windproof as well as fully breathable and waterproof so there will be no excuse not to go out and a lovely long summer walk, even if the forecast is for summer showers.
Instead of buying a gift why not buy an experience, and we don’t mean the really expensive experience days, we were thinking more family orientated. Check out your local wildlife or heritage organisation for events such as moth nights or special Father’s Day in the Forest events. Make a memory that he won’t ever forget.
However you decide to treat Dad this weekend have a lovely time. You can share your Father’s Day love on our facebook page or tweet us @adventuretogs with the hashtag #adventurebugs. We love to hear your stories!
We can’t believe it is March already! Spring is finally springing and we can’t help but get excited. The sun is shining, the skylarks are singing, the layers of extra clothing are starting to thin down and there are blossoms on the trees. I don’t know about you but we feel like spring has taken an age to get here and we are so pleased it has finally arrived. Here are some of the reasons we love the arrival of spring…..
The days get longer meaning we get more sunshine! We feel more energetic and there seems to suddenly become more time for play, whether that is just time to sit and relax in the garden or get out on a family walk.
We get to start spotting wildlife we haven’t seen for a whole winter. We have already spotted midges in the early evening which means the bats will soon be out gorging after a winter snoozing. Hedgehogs will be sniffling around the garden again and we get to coo over the ducklings at the duck pond.
The world suddenly seems colourful again! Winter has been a dreary mix of grey and brown and we haven’t even had a sniff of the white stuff this year. Spring is full of yellows and purples, greens and blues. Enough to put a spring in anyone’s step.
Easter is nearly here which means a nice long break with the kids, lots of outdoor play and of course lots of chocolate!
To show our excitement and to celebrate the arrival of spring we have just brought in a brand new set of waterproofs from the Danish rainwear specialists Mikk-line.
These Mikk-line suits are highly waterproof 2 piece sets that are an amazing 8 times more waterproof than the British Standard. They are made from ultra soft PU fabric making them lovely and comfy and extremely durable. They are also 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable. All that for just £35.99!
Perfect for a rainy spring day of play.
What do you love about spring? Are you excited about its arrival? Why not post your spring pictures over on the Adventure Togs facebook page and share the fun.
We are really pleased to announce the arrival of the new Mikk-Line childrens rain suits for 2014. This Danish brand of childrens outdoor clothing offers a fabulous range of colours and styles and is excellent value for money. The Scandinavians really know how to do ‘Outdoors’!
Made from a soft PU fabric, they are really comfortable to wear. They are very waterproof (8000mm) at eight times the British Standard, breathable (2000 g/m2/24h) and windproof. Just right for the Great British Weather! The younger childrens sizes (up to 4 years) comprise of dungarees and jacket and older childrens suits (5 years and over) comprise of elasticated waist trousers and jacket.
We have navy (Dark Marine) or Hot Pink in stock at the moment and have other colours arriving soon. We are sure these suits will be popular with our customers as they offer such excellent value for a 2 piece suit.
